SKINFOOD is a Korean skincare brand built on a simple idea: food that is good to eat is also good for your skin. It calls itself an original “food cosmetic” brand, making cosmetics from wholesome food ingredients.

According to the brand, its history goes back to 1957, through the research lab of its subsidiary. SKINFOOD also works on its packaging: paper cushioning instead of plastic, tape-free shipping boxes, soy-ink printing and uncoated boxes, plus a recycling campaign that shows customers how to sort each package.

Carrot Carotene is, according to SKINFOOD, the brand’s first vegan line. Its carrot extract is obtained by steaming carrots, without chemical solvents, and the line focuses on hydration and soothing.

It includes the Calming Water Pad, a soothing toner, a cleansing foam, the Relief Cream, a daily sheet mask and a wash-off food mask, plus the Carrot Airy Soft Sun Stick.

Pantothenic Water Parsley is a vegan line for skin that is oily and prone to breakouts. It uses water parsley (Korean minari) extract with pantothenic acid to gently care for excess oil and dead skin, according to the brand: pads, ampoule, essence, toner, foam and a spot powder.

Acorn Pore Peptide is a vegan line for pores and firmness, built on ellagic acid from acorn: pads, ampoule, cream, cleansing foam and masks.

SKINFOOD is known for its toner pads (Carrot, Water Parsley, Acorn, Rice, Potato, Banana PDRN, Shine Muscat and more) and its wash-off masks. The Black Sugar Mask Wash Off is a scrub mask for smoother-looking skin, while the Egg White Pore Mask targets excess oil in pores.

The 120 g Food Masks are rinse-off masks, each built around one ingredient, such as carrot, red bean, pink grapefruit AHA, potato or Shine Muscat cica.

• Redness and dehydration: the Carrot Carotene line or Blue Chamomile Hyaluronic.
• Oily, breakout-prone skin: Pantothenic Water Parsley or Lemongrass Niacinamide.
• Visible pores and firmness: Acorn Pore Peptide.
• Dull tone and dark spots: Rice Brightening, Yuja C Dark Spot Clear or Red Bean Tranexamic Acid.
• Rough texture: the Black Sugar Perfect range, or the Pink Grapefruit AHA and Shine Muscat Cica BHA pads.
• Dry skin: Royal Honey Propolis Enrich or Avocado Rich.

Morning: a cleansing foam, a toner or toner pad, a serum or ampoule, your cream, then a sun cream or the Carrot Airy Soft Sun Stick.
Evening: a cleansing oil (Black Sugar, Egg White, Naju Bae or Pineapple BHA), your foam, then toner, serum and cream. Use a wash-off or food mask once or twice a week. Exfoliating products (AHA, BHA, scrubs): go slowly. New product? Patch test first.
